the Filipino aspiration

“Begin with the end in mind.” This is one of the seven habits of effective people according to a book by Stephen Covey. This habit reminds us to be clear as to what we want to be, what we want to do, where we want to go, what we want to happen. For instance, if we want to effect change in the society, before we make any step, we must be clear about what kind of society we want to have. The planning, acting and working towards attaining the society we dream to have will be easier and more specific.
All human life is sacred. Inherent in the human person in his or her dignity. Let me define what human dignity is. Human dignity is rooted in the truth that each person bears in him or her the image and likeness of God. As the person grows and develops to be the total person he is supposed to be, that Godliness in him or her becomes more visible. Therefore, it is important to give every person on earth the opportunity to develop all his or her potentials as a total person.
As Filipinos, we aspire to be able to develop our God given talents to enable us to perform our duties and functions as members of the society. As human being in the society, we must be given opportunities to perform our role in shaping our society and environment. We must be allowed to develop our human potentials, contribute to the growth of the Philippine culture, and attain a just and humane society. There is much to be desired in our Filipino society before we can attain out common aspiration of a just and humane society.
