Kadayawan Davao!

We have just celebrated the annual festival of Davao City in Philippines called, Kadayawan Festival last weekend. It is a celebration that interfaces the three aspects: tribal industrial, arts and entertainment. And it is considered as one of the biggest festivals in the Mindanao Region. Why is it called Kadayawan? Because it derives from the friendly and common greeting of Davaoenos or Dabawenyos , Madayaw! “Dayaw” means valuable or good or simply beautiful. Our theme for this year is: “Musanay Lumadnong Kagikan, Yutang Kabilin Panalipdan!” (“Flourishing Indigenous Heritage, Protecting Ancestral Nations”)

the Filipino aspiration

“Begin with the end in mind.” This is one of the seven habits of effective people according to a book by Stephen Covey. This habit reminds us to be clear as to what we want to be, what we want to do, where we want to go, what we want to happen. For instance, if we want to effect change in the society, before we make any step, we must be clear about what kind of society we want to have. The planning, acting and working towards attaining the society we dream to have will be easier and more specific. Continue Reading »

We just finished our computer class awhile ago. I find it so boring because the activities were very simple and we have to eat up the whole two hours - session. It’s not that I’m boasting myself that I’m good enough in computers, but I believe even a five year old boy or girl can do the activies we had. Like just making a small picture or logo by using the MSPaint and writing a business letter using the MSWord. And each of them are to be done in two hours. Come on! You can even just finish it in less than ten minutes. We are old enough to think and work fast for those stuff. Continue Reading »

Yesterday, I and my sister went to the mall to buy my school shoes and her other school requirements. It was rainy day so we both bring our own umbrellas. After I’ve finally chosen my shoes, I treated my younger sister to eat at McDonalds. I just let her know the taste of their new upshake fries. And I’m happy to know that she liked it so much. Since it was our first time to shop together, we all visit the stores inside the mall. Continue Reading »

the reunion

I am so glad that on my second day in Davao, I unexpectedly meet my childhood friends. We knew each other since we were still 10 years old. And it’s so cool that we’re now all teenagers - beautiful young ladies.

the come back

Hi guys! Finally, I’m back. It has been a month that I haven’t made my new entries. Now, I have so many things to share and hopefully I can recall everything. Currently, I’m no longer staying in Cebu City but I am now in Davao. Davao City is where I really grew up. I’m happy that I’m back because I’m with my family and old friends again. I missed my old bedroom and especially the weather here. I find more peaceful and safe environment here than in Cebu. Continue Reading »
